carry on regardless

My son and I were on our way to pick up our Christmas tree the other day when, halfway there (flat tire Murphy`s Law?), I suddenly heard the evil hissss of leaking air.   Assumed it was my son`s flat-proned bicycle but, in fact, it was the Mundo`s rear wheel (my first ever flat on the Yuba Mundo). Doh!

If I still had the double-legged and super sturdy Stand-Alone Kickstand(it broke off the bike a few months ago - not so surprising considering the weight I often put on it) this wouldn`t have been much of a problem, but with the single-legged stand, I couldn`t see a way of getting the tire off the heavy blue beast.  Alas, we were forced to abandon our Christmas tree quest and headed home with the tire leaking slowly.  Luckily, there was an old Bridgestone Bike shop halfway home, where I could refill the tire.

One of the things I love about cycling, and cargo bikes in particular, is the DYI stuff - and all the messing around and tinkering with the bikes you can do.    I find that with a bit of thought,  some inexpensive makeshift solution is often close at hand, or perhaps only as far as the nearest ¥100 yen shop.

Anyway, as you can see, in this case, I discovered yet another use for the wonderful Yuba belt straps that came with the bike - as well as the tree that came with our house!

Now, to get that Christmas Tree - let`s carry on!
